How to print from the HIC WAS website

The HIC WAS website has been built using frames. This means that other than the home page, each page is broken into two or more sections that act independently from each other. A typical page in this website has one frame that runs across the top (the dark red menu with links to other pages in the website) and a mainframe. The mainframe contains the body of text and has a scroll bar on the right that allows you to move through the information while the top frame stays put. Some pages have an additional beige navigation frame located on the left hand side of the page.

When printing information from the site you must first decide if you wish to print all the frames you see on the page. Printing all the frames will print exactly what you see on the page including both the top and left frames however, to get the best layout possible it is recommended that you print just the mainframe of any page.

To do this, first click your mouse on the text you wish to print. Then, if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser, select print from the file menu at the top of the page or press Ctrl + p. At the bottom of the print command menu you will see a box titled 'print frames'. Ensure that the 'only selected frame' option is selected and then click OK.

If you are using Netscape Navigator as your browser, it will automatically default to print only the mainframe unless you set it otherwise.

It is highly recommended that you use the 'print preview' option every time you print. This option (available from the 'file' menu) always you to see exactly what will be printed before you print. Please note that even if you highlight a small amount of text your browser will send the entire page beyond what you see on the screen to the printer. Some pages in the website are very long and it is a good idea to use the scroll bar on the right to move through the entire document to see the full length before you print.
